GENERAL QUESTIONS:

How many of your trips are open for the general public?
About 20% of our trips are open to our individual collectors list. This basically means we are opening the trip to anyone in the world that would like to attend, regardless of affiliation with any museum or collectors group. Many of our destinations have an individual collectors trip available as well as group/institutional trip options. A perfect example of this is Art Basel Miami Beach where we will create group packages with a specific organization in mind, as well as offer a-la-carte packages to individuals. GROUP QUESTIONS:

Q: I am a development director for a large US museum and want to use you to spruce up our existing travel program. Can you explain a little bit about the process of getting this started and what we could expect?
A: We sure can! You know Jennifer Jacobs, the founder of The Jacobs Group™ started this company for that purpose. INDIVIDUAL TRAVEL QUESTIONS:

Q: I signed up for you individual collectors trip in Buenos Aires. I want to go off on my own - is this okay?
Definitely - we encourage it! As an individual traveler we put together itineraries with all you could want to do with lots of free time. They of course are completely optional! We do however like to be in contact with everyone so that we know you are safe - especially in some international destinations - a simple call or text and everything is fine!

DESTINATION - BUENOS AIRES QUESTIONS:

Q: What is the deadline on registration - I don't see one?
A: The deadline is not set, because we expect this trip will fill before a deadline. We recommend that payments are received by the end of the summer if you are serious about going.

Q: Of the two accomodations options do you have a favorite?
A: We love the Palermo Esplenda Hotel, but the condo option is a better option if you are going to extend your trip because of the lower cost. There are some fabulous condo options in the same neighborhood as the Palermo that can be had at a great value. Contact us and we will make suggestions and help with setting it up for you!

Q: I have already signed up for the trip and want to suggest this to a friend of mine. How do I go about getting the $100 referral discount?
A: When your friend signs up, simply email us and let us know who they are and we can either credit you $100 to an à la carte program addition, or issue you a $100 refund.

Q: Your trip sounds amazing, but I HATE group travel. I guess that isn't a question is it?
A: All of us hate the stigma of group travel and make every effort to travel ‘under the radar’ as much as possible. Our goal was to create a company that could put together group travel programs for people like us who never would have considered it previously! We also create plenty of free time as well as make every activity completely optional so you can do as much or as little of the programs and events as you would like.

Q: Do I need any special visas to travel to Buenos Aires?
A: All you need as a US Citizen is a valid US Passport. However, if you plan on visiting nearby Brazil, you will need to apply for a tourist visa. We can help assist you in this process.

Q: Is purchasing art in Argentina difficult?
A: Absolutely not! That is why we offer complete arts consulting services on these trips. Not only can we help you determine what work "works" for you in your home or existing collection, we can put you face to face with the artist, assist with the sale, and arrange for shipping and customs details to be taken care of!

Q: Isn't traveling abroad expensive right now?
A: Despite the doom and gloom on the news and the worldwide economic downturn, the US Dollar is quite strong. In fact it is close to 5 year highs. It is at a 4.5 year high against the Argentian Pesos. This means your dollar is going further than it has in a long time! It is an amazing time to travel right now!

DESTINATION - MIAMI ART BASEL:

Q: I signed up for your Art Basel Miami Collectors package. What is the level of VIP pass I will receive!
A: Following receipt of your registration, we will forward an easy questionnaire to help fair organizers determine the appropriate level of VIP Pass. VIP pass receipt and/or level are never guaranteed and depend on each collector.

Q: How soon should I make my hotel reservation?
A: As many of the Miami hotels raise their rates during the fair week, the best deals are snapped up quickly – which one will I receive as part of the TJG Collectors Group? Contact us today to help!

Q: Can you help with restaurant reservations?
A: Restaurant reservations are hard to come by if you wait until you arrive in Miami. We’ll forward a list of recommendations in November, and can even secure reservations on your behalf. Through our special partnership with Open Table, you’ll even get an email/text reminder the day before your reservation, complete with the restaurant’s contact information and address!

Q: What other events will be scheduled throughout the week?
A: Throughout our years of planning itineraries to Miami, we’ve found that most travelers prefer to explore the fairs on their own. While appointments to private collections and other events are scheduled as a group, we’ll also forward invitations to join TJG Director Jennifer Jacobs in exploring fairs, art projects, and other events each day.

Q: Is transportation within Miami provided in the Collectors Package?
A: As there are a wide variety of transportation options available in Miami, we have not included transportation to the different fair events in the Collectors Package cost. We’ll forward information on the many free shuttles running throughout South Beach and the Wynwood Arts District that sponsored by the different fairs, as well as numbers for taxi, limousine, or towncar services.

GENERAL DESTINATION QUESTIONS:

Q: I heard you took a group of people to Cuba! Any plans on another one?
A: Most likely we will. As you know there are still very strict travel restrictions for US citizens to Cuba. Our previous trip was permitted for the purposes of educational travel by the office of Foreign Assets Control. Regulations and restrictions could soon turn more favorable in the future as the US sees an upcoming change in administration. Either way, Cuba will be done again in the future!

PAYMENT INFORMATION:

Q: I am ready to sign up for your latest individual collectors trip! What payment options are available for me?
Depending on the trip, either full payment or possibly just a deposit would be needed to hold a spot. Full payment schedules are always included with the registration forms and itineraries. Individual payments can be made with Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, personal or business checks, money orders, or cash (though noone has tried that one yet).

A: We occasionally offer discounts to those who have already been on a Jacobs Group™ trip. We announce these discounts in our newsletters - so keep up to speed on them!
